Commercial Property Energy Assessors Can't Post

Hi,

Just to let everyone know there is a new web resource for energy inspectors connected with providing commercial EPC's

Energy Assessors can register details free.

at:

www.commercialenergyperformancecertificates.co.uk

and visit the contact page - full details are available there.

Even if you do not have a website, they can create a web presence for you by placing your details on their directory pages.

With commercial energy certificates being required from April 2008 its worthwhile getting listed ahead of the forthcoming deadline.

Re: [Chris Wood] Commercial Property Energy Assessors [In reply to] Can't Post

I have put myself up for this, even though I am not trained in full SAP yet, as I think the prices of EPC's will be driven down by the end of this year. The catch 22 is this: can I earn enough money to pay for the training upgrade???

Hi Clive,

I agree with you, I think many assessors considering additional training for full SAP energy assessment are in the same boat. There seems little activity in the domestic property market at the moment. I think estate agents are attempting to "ring fence" any job opportunities for their own employees and leaving the "independents" out in the cold.

I've heard this story a few times in differemt parts of the country. I'm not sure what the position is in Hampshire, sounds pretty similar to me, from your reply.

Prepare for a market squeeze from agents - as I pointed out to one - how much does it cost to call out a plumber!!!

I think your right there clive, many assessors may consider an upgrade in training but I think quite a few don't have enough work at the moment to consider it an option. Also with commercial property energy assessment around the corner, I would bet that RICS surveyors would like to move in on this area of the market. Looking at the Government website they figure the average cost of EPC's in the commercial sector will be in the region of £1750 per assessment.

Clarks Legal consider this a gross under estimate and for large commercial premises they reckon on average the figure should be around 10K for inspection and certificate.

Maybe that additional training may pay off?
