Energy Certificates for Social Housing Schemes Can't Post

Has anyone been instructed to do surveys for social housing and using cloned epc's to process energy reports.?. I'd be interested to know your experiences when carrying out this type of survey.

Re: [Chris] Energy Certificates for Social Housing Schemes [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi Chris, we are just setting up to do EPCs from Oct of these year. Although the information regarding is very confusing and after a semiar with NHER they still don't know. Such as what happens if we do a major repair of a heating upgrade. Section 106s, Managing Agents etc etc.

Does any one have this information?

Thanks

Chris

Hi Chris,

Sounds like I'm talking to myself! Welcome to the forum.

Indeed, information regarding Social Housing EPC's is a bit sketchy right now. In theory some can can be tackled by Domestic Energy Assessors using RdSAP principles and "cloned" epc production, but some types of buildings could easily be considered as "commercial" if they are large structures like HMO's (Houses in Multiple Occupation) for example. These could be ex-hotels for example, which have been converted as an HMO.

It is conceivable that such buildings can only be assessed by a Commercial Energy Assessor which really requires clarification by accredited training providers.

The way forward is not clear at this time, I'm hoping that CLG will publish further information about this subject, and if they do we will feature an article here.

Cheers

I too await the information from CLG. One of my questions is concerning sheltered housing schemes where there are 'community centres', heated large areas for common use.

These could be domestic or public buildings in my view.....but how to distinguish, anyone have an answer?

Hi Brian, not sure of the answer to that and these areas will need to be clarified. I suppose if areas are to be classed as "Commerical" these will be delt differently?

Once again the lack of information from the govenment / housing corp on guildlines will cause a strip in Oct when this thing kicks off!

Keep in touch

Chris
